Binghamton House Burglary
On September 20, 2002, at about 1:00 PM in the afternoon, a resident of the Grandview Avenue neighborhood on Binghamton’s East Side, telephoned Binghamton Police to report the burglary of his residence. Entry to the home may have been gained through an unlocked window.

The total value of property stolen was $14,090.00, and consisted of a wide variety of goods. Some of the property consisted of 15 antique pocket watches dating from 1870 to 1920; 100 silver dollars all dated in the 1800’s; 1 Hamilton watch which notes a 25 year anniversary at Kroehler’s Manufacturing; 1 Elgin gold watch;  a very unique 14 carat gold bracelet with 60-80 diamonds around it and a broken safety clasp; an antique clock for an antique automobile and a Pentax 35mm camera. Some of the antique pocket watches were the style used by railroad conductors.

Also taken was a DeWalt drill, Simmons binoculars, George Foreman grill, 20 DVD Movies, a short-wave radio and various tools.

The thefts may have occurred over an extended period of time, possibly for several days, with a number of different trips being made to the house and entry gained each time through the same unsecured window. The resident has since taken steps to prevent further problems.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
