Binghamton & Johnson City Robberies
On November 10, 2002 at about 7:55 PM, an attempted robbery occurred at the Hess Mart at 236 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, New York. A 55 year old Binghamton woman had just walked out of the store when she was approached by a female subject in the parking lot. The female subject told the woman to hand over her purse, and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t. The startled woman called out to her husband who had been waiting for her in the parking lot. At that point the female subject turned and fled the scene.

No one was injured in this incident and no property was stolen.

The suspect is described as a white, female, 5’6" tall, 125 pounds in weight, dark shoulder length hair that was pulled into a ponytail, wearing a white ski jacket and gray sweat pants.

The suspect fled the scene driving a white, 2 door vehicle with rust near the driver’s door, possibly a mid to late 1980’s Oldsmobile.
On November 11, 2002, at about 10:15 AM, a similar incident occurred in the parking lot of Wegman’s, 650 Harry L Drive, Johnson City, New York. In that incident an elderly woman carrying groceries to her car was approached by a female subject. The female subject told the woman that she had a gun and to hand over her purse. The woman did hand her purse to the female subject who then turned and fled through the parking lot.

The suspect in this case is described as a female with olive colored skin, 35 to 40 years old, very attractive, 5’4" to 5’6" tall, thin build, with shoulder length, jet black hair.

No one was injured in this robbery.

In both incidents, a gun was never displayed. It is possible that the same woman is responsible for both the robbery and the attempted robbery.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
