Rape, October 2000

In the early morning hours of October 30, 2000, a white woman in her early 20's was walking on North Street in Binghamton, New York. The woman accepted a ride from a man who she did not know. The man drove her to Harry L Drive in Johnson City, New York and pulled over possibly in the area of the old Duchess Bar. The man asked the woman to wait in his car while he went to a nearby unknown location and bought some marijuana. The man returned a short time later with marijuana. The man then drove the woman to a remote area at the end of LaGrange Street, Binghamton. Here the man brutally raped the woman. The woman managed to escape her attacker and fled, naked, down a steep wooded hillside, emerging on Route 17 in the area of Mygatt Street. A passing truckdriver came to the assistance of the woman.

The suspect was described, at the time of the attack, as a white male, early to middle 20's in age, stocky build, dirty blonde hair, clean shaven, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect vehicle was described as a late model two-door automobile, possibly teal in color. The body style is similar to a Ford Thunderbird. The vehicle was very clean inside.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.

A personal letter from the victim.
