Vestal Credit Card Larceny - April 5, 2002
At approximately 7:00 PM on April 5, 2002, credit cards were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the parking lot of the Bednarsky Funeral Home, 96 Glenwood Avenue, Binghamton, New York. The victim of the theft, from out of town, was attending a service inside the funeral home when the larceny occurred. The perpetrators immediately began using the stolen credit cards in Vestal, Johnson City and Horseheads, New York. The cards were also used along the Interstate 81 corridor, as far south as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A joint investigation by the Vestal Police Department, Johnson City Police Department and the New York State Police has focussed on two women who are believed to be responsible for the theft and subsequent use of the credit cards. It was further determined that these same two women stole an additional set of credit cards from an elderly woman as she dined at the Roaring Fork Restaurant in Vestal on that same evening of April 5, 2002. Both victims' stolen credit cards were used in a similar manner, with the illegal purchase of clothing, home electronics, laptop computers, lodging, food and high dollar amount gift cards. The total loss is approximately $20,000.00.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
