Vestal Residential Burglaries

New information in this case:
Vestal Police Department have cleared their portion of this case, with the arrest of 2 men caught in the act of burglarizing a home.

Original details:
The Vestal, New York, Police Department, Broome County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police are currently investigating a series of residential burglaries in the Towns of Vestal and Binghamton that appear to be connected. The burglaries have occurred on Powderhouse Road, Castlemen Road, Foster Road and Grippen Hill Road in the Town of Vestal and Pierce Creek Road, Brady Hill Road, Felters Road and Schofield Road in the Town of Binghamton. Entry into a home has usually been made from a location on a side of the house that does not face the street. Force has been used if necessary. Taken in the burglaries are coins, cash, small television sets and SONY Playstation 2 Game Systems. In one instance an acoustic guitar was stolen.

A series of suspicious incidents have also been occurring in the area. In these incidents, a white male knocks on a homeowners door, and when the resident answers the door, the male asks the resident if a vehicle parked on the property is for sale. In all of these incidents, none of the vehicles have had a For Sale sign on them. In many of the incidents, witnesses have reported two white males operating together. These same two men were seen leaving the scene of one of the residential burglaries.

It appears that the men are canvassing homes by first knocking on the door of the house to see if anyone is at home, and if someone should answer the door, they then make the inquiry about the vehicle. If no one answers the door, they may then force entry to the home.

Suspect One: White male, possibly between 18 and 25 years of age, 6 foot tall, skinny and having a very pale complexion.
Suspect Two: White male, age in his late 30’s or early 40’s, 5’11" tall and heavyset, possibly has a beard.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
