Derrick T. Watson On March 19, 2003, at 12:43 AM, a uniformed Binghamton, New York, Police Officer, while on patrol in the downtown area, noticed a suspicious vehicle traveling southbound on Stuyvesant Street. The vehicle, a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro, went the entire length of Stuyvesant Street with its left turn signal activated, yet when it arrived at the intersection with Susquehanna Street, the vehicle turned right. The officer stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Susquehanna Street with Exchange Street. The vehicle was solely occupied and operated by Derrick T. Watson of Endicott, New York. A computer check of the license plate revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen on February 21, 2003, by its owner, a 35 year old Oak Street, Binghamton woman. Watson, an acquaintance of the woman, had been to her apartment on that day in February, and while there, stole the womans car keys. After leaving her apartment, Watson used the keys to steal the womans car. Watson had been in possession of the car since that time. Watson was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, a Felony, as well as Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Second Degree. He was taken to Binghamton Police Headquarters for processing. Because Watson was convicted on July 6, 1998 of stealing a vehicle in the Town of Union, the Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle charge was escalated to a felony. On March 24, 2003, City Court Judge Mary Anne Lehman issued an Arrest Warrant for Watson when he failed to appear for his arraignment. Watson has never been arrested on that warrant and remains at large at this time. Derrick T. Watson is described as a black male, 31 years of age, born July 12, 1971, 58", 241 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. He has scars on his neck and forehead. Watson uses the aliases of Derrick T. Black and Todd Hoppe. His last known address was Apartment 1, 520 Central Street, Endicott, New York. Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes. |
