Vestal NY, Stolen Car Ring

The Vestal, New York, Police Department is investigating an auto theft that may be part of a possible stolen car operation.. Sometime between the hours of 10:00 AM and midnight on Saturday, May 31, 2003, a 1997 Acura Integra was reported stolen from the Riviera Ridge Apartment complex located at 138 Jensen Road, Vestal. The vehicle was later recovered in a rural area of Tioga County, New York. It had been partially dismantled.

Similar incidents have been reported in other areas of Broome and Tompkins Counties in New York. The suspect or suspects have targeted Honda and Acura vehicles, and, in several cases, the vehicles were taken to remote areas of Tioga County and dismantled for a variety of parts. The suspect(s) strip the vehicles and leave what remains at the location where it was dismantled.

The operation appears to be professional in that the perpetrator(s) are apparently not drawing attention to themselves while they operate.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
