Binghamton NY, Mygatt Street Burglary

Sometime between 12:30 AM on Sunday, June 8, 2003 and 2:30 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, an apartment on Mygatt Street, Binghamton, New York, was burglarized, while the occupant was out of town. Entry to the apartment was gained by opening an unlocked first floor window and then climbing through it. Prior to finding the unlocked window, the burglar(s) tried unsuccessfully to pry open both the front and rear doors to the apartment. After climbing through the window, the burglar(s) had access to the entire apartment.

The investigation reveals that once inside, the burglar(s) unlocked the front door. This may have been done to allow an accomplice(s) to enter into the apartment and assist with the burglary. It is also through this door that the burglar(s), most likely, carried out the items stolen in this incident and exited the apartment. The investigation further reveals that the burglar(s) may have loaded the stolen property into garbage bags for transport from the apartment.

Stolen in the burglary were the following items, valued at over $5,000.00:
One Dell computer with 17" monitor, colored black and gray,
valued at $2,700.00,
One Sony Play station valued at $200.00,
One Panasonic DVD Player,
80 various DVD’s valued at $1,900.00
One UMK brand AM/FM/CD/Cassette Radio, with a 5 CD changer,
color silver and black, valued at $159.00,
One Nokia cellular telephone and several items of baby clothing.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
