Alaska Market robbery

On Saturday, July 26, 2003, an armed robbery occurred at the Alaska Market, 254 Chenango Street, Binghamton, New York. At 8:57 PM on that date, a male clerk was working in the store when a man entered the business. The man approached the clerk at the cash register and asked for change of a dollar. He then handed the clerk a one dollar bill. When the clerk opened the cash register to make the change, the man suddenly pulled out a knife and pushed the clerk back. While he kept the clerk at bay with the knife, the man used his free hand to remove cash from the register's open cash drawer. After emptying the drawer of cash, the man exited the store through the front door and was last seen fleeing the area, running south on Chenango Street and then west on Eldredge Street.

The clerk was not injured in this incident.

The suspect is described as a White male, 45 to 50 years of age, 5' 7" tall, medium build, mustache, brown hair short on the top and front, pulled into a rear pony tail. He was wearing a green polo style shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and a baseball cap.

The knife is described as a large kitchen style.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
