Charter One Bank Robbery

On Tuesday, July 29, 2003, a robbery occurred at the Charter One Bank, 247 Main Street, Binghamton, New York. At 1:42 PM, on that date, a man entered the bank and walked up to the window of an on duty teller. Once there, the man handed the teller a note which announced the robbery. He then spoke to the teller, telling her that he wanted only specific denominations of bills. In response to the demands of the man, the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. After receiving the cash, the man walked out the front door of the bank. He was last seen walking north towards Advanced Auto.

No one was injured in this incident and no weapon was ever displayed.

The suspect in this case may be the same man who robbed the Alaska Market, 254 Chenango Street, Binghamton, at knifepoint, three days prior on July 26, 2003. That robbery was featured on Crime Stoppers a few weeks ago.

The suspect in the bank robbery is described as a white male, 48 to 58 years of age, 5’9" to 5’10" in height, thin build, small eyes and narrow nose. He was last seen wearing a red, black and blue plaid shirt and a dirty, gray cap.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
