Ross Park Zoo On Monday, October 13, 2003, a Grand Larceny occurred at the Ross Park Zoo, 185 Park Avenue, Binghamton, New York. At about 2:30 PM, on that date, a 27 year old female zoo employee left her shirt and purse on a table in the zoo Office, then exited the building to work elsewhere on the grounds. When the woman returned to the office at about 5:30 PM, she discovered that her purse had been stolen. The office had been left unlocked to allow access for other zoo employees who were in and out of the building all afternoon. The Binghamton Police were notified and responded to the zoo. The womans purse is braided, color tan with black and red stripes. In the purse was the womans tan wallet which contained several credit cards and personal items. The subsequent investigation revealed that some of the stolen credit cards were illegally used before the woman could cancel them. At 6:34 PM, a substantial amount of property was illegally purchased with one of the stolen credit cards at Wal-Mart, Vestal, New York. That property included a Personal Computer, among many other items. Illegal purchases were also made at a Binghamton Mobil Mart at 3:00 PM and a Binghamton CVS store at about 9:30 PM. A Wal-Mart surveillance camera has captured three individuals involved in the use of the stolen credit card. One of the suspects is a heavy set black male, with a bald spot on top of his head. The other two suspects are black females. Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes. |
