Binghamton East Side Burglaries

In the overnight hours of Tuesday, November 18, 2003 to Wednesday, November 19, 2003, a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries occurred in the City of Binghamton, New York. These crimes occurred on the east side of the city, and all were discovered by the time of the opening of business on that Wednesday morning.

The burglaries and attempted burglaries occurred at 5 different businesses, all located on either Broad Avenue or Robinson Street, all within close proximity of each other. They were similar in nature to another recent burglary at a business on Bevier Street. Entries and attempted entries were done at secluded doors, most often in the rear of the business. The doors were then forced open in those businesses where entry was gained. All of the businesses were closed and unoccupied when these crimes occurred.

Undisclosed amounts of cash were taken from the businesses that were entered. In one of the burglaries, a car was stolen. The car was later recovered several blocks away, in the rear of East Middle School, 167 Frederick Street. The investigation reveals that the suspect, while at the school, tried unsuccessfully to enter the school building. The suspect left the school area, mode and direction unknown.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
