Union Garage Burglary, Endicott, NY

On the morning of Monday, December 29, 2003, a commercial burglary was discovered at an Endicott, New York business. The Union Auto Repair Garage, located at 306 North Street, was entered sometime between Tuesday, December 23, 2003 and the previously mentioned Monday, while the business was closed for the holidays. The Endicott Police Department responded to the scene when the break-in was discovered.

The subsequent investigation by Endicott Police Detectives revealed that entry into the building was gained by breaking out a 12"by18" window on the southwest side of the building and then climbing in through it. Prior to breaking the window, the suspect(s) disabled the garage’s alarm system. Additionally, prior to entering the building, the suspect attempted, unsuccessfully, to force open another window.

Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked the Office section of the building, going through drawers and shelving. The remainder of the business interior appeared to be untouched. At this time it appears that the only thing stolen is a Smith and Wesson knife, in a sheath, which was taken from the ransacked office.

There have recently been attempted break-ins at two other garages in the vicinity.

The Union Garage alarm system has been updated since the burglary.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
