HSBC Bank Night Deposit Robbery

On Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2003, a Robbery occurred at the HSBC Bank, Binghamton Plaza, 33 West State Street, Binghamton, New York. At about 11:10 PM, on that date, a male employee of the Kentucky Fried Chicken, 165 Robinson Street, Binghamton, drove up to the bank to deposit the day’s proceeds. When the employee exited his car and walked over to the Night Depository Box, he noticed a man emerge from behind the rear of the bank building. The man, wearing a ski mask and holding his hand in his pocket, approached the employee. Fearing that the man was holding a gun in his pocket, the employee gave the deposit to the man. The man immediately fled the area on foot, first running back behind the rear of the bank building and then north on Chenango Street towards Cheri Lindsey Park. The employee got back into his car and drove directly to the Binghamton Police Headquarters where he reported the incident.

While the employee never did see a gun, he felt intimidated and threatened by the actions and demeanor of the man.

No one was injured in this incident. The deposit consisted of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, 250 pounds in weight, wearing a dark blue or black ski mask, blue jean pants and a dark blue or black pullover fleece shirt with a white stripe across the front of it.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
