Burglary & Attempted Burglary, Endicott, NY

Sometime overnight, from Saturday, January 24, 2004 to Sunday, January 25, 2004, a commercial burglary occurred in Endicott, New York The break-in at the Interlieds Hardware Store, 4 Washington Avenue, Endicott, was discovered on the previously mentioned Sunday by a store employee. Entry to the store appears to have been gained by removing a rear window and then climbing through to the interior of the building. The window had been placed on the side of the building. Stolen in this burglary were several hundred dollars worth of " Buffalo" brand tools, including a 40 pound drill press. Other items taken were 2 cordless drills, 2 finishing sanders, 2 laser levels, 2 hacksaws, 4 clamp lights and a 121 piece drill driver set.

On Tuesday, February 10, 2004, an attempted burglary was discovered by an employee of Buzz’s Garage, 100 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott. An unsuccessful effort had been made to forcibly open a steel door in the rear of that business. Entry to the building was never gained and therefore nothing was taken from the premises.

Both businesses are within a block of railroad tracks which pass through the area. In recent months, a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries have occurred to other garages in the general area. In a burglary featured in Crime Stoppers in January, 2004, a garage in the area was entered when the burglar(s) broke out a window in that business to gain access to the building. A Smith & Wesson knife in a sheath was taken in that break-in.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
