House of Reardon Burglary, Binghamton, NY

On Tuesday, February 10, 2004, a burglary occurred on the East Side of Binghamton, New York. At 3:52 AM, on that day, Binghamton Police responded to an alarm activation at the House of Reardon, 25 Grant Street. Upon arrival to the business, which had already closed for the evening, Officers found the front door unlocked. A search of the premises resulted in no one being found in or around the building. Additionally, there was no obvious sign of forced entry to the business.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the last employee to leave the building did so at 1:20 AM. This employee turned on the alarm as he left the business. Detectives feel that the burglar(s) may have remained in the business at closing time, hiding from the employee as he locked the place up for the evening. Once the employee left, the burglar(s) had access to the entire interior of the business. When the burglar(s) decided to leave the building, he probably unlocked the front door and exited through it. The opening of the door may be what activated the alarm . It is unknown if the burglar(s) fled the area on foot or in a vehicle.
Stolen in the burglary was a case of wine and various liquor bottles, all worth an undisclosed amount of money. Additionally, pry marks on the cash register indicated that an unsuccessful attempt was made to enter it.

Along with specific suspect and case information, Investigators would also be interested in any observations of suspicious individuals or activities in or around the business that night.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
