West Side Larceny / Criminal Mischief, Binghamton, NY

In late December of 2003 and early January of 2004, a series of criminal mischief and larcenies occurred to vehicles on the west side of Binghamton, New York. Beginning in the overnight hours of  Friday, December 26, 2003 through Saturday, December 27, 2004, nine vehicles were damaged. One of those vehicles had property stolen from it, consisting of a man’s wallet containing $160.00 cash. All of these vehicles had windows broken out, the majority being rear windows. It appears that the damage was done by a BB or air pistol. The damaged vehicles were located on Oak Street, Lydia Street and St. Cyril Avenue in the First Ward, and Leroy Street and Seminary Avenue further south. All of these vehicles were parked on the street in front of their owner’s homes.

In the overnight hours of Monday, December 29, 2003 to Tuesday, December 30, 2003, four more vehicles, all of them on Lydia Street, had windows shot out, again by a BB or Air gun. These vehicles, too, were parked on the street in front of their owner’s homes.

Overnight from Thursday, January 1, 2004 to Friday, January 2, 2004, eight vehicles parked in the rear of Catholic Charities, 232 Main Street, were damaged. All of the vehicles, owned by Catholic Charities, had windows shot out. Property consisting of a tool belt and various hand tools were stolen from two of the vehicles. Additionally, 2 vehicles parked in the rear of 236 Main Street, the Marks Agency, had rear windows shot out of them. Those vehicles were owned by the agency.

In all, 23 vehicles were damaged and 3 had property stolen from them. The damage to the vehicles totals several thousand dollars.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
