Suspect
Binghamton Assault/Attempted Rape

In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 25, 2004, a 31 year old Owego woman was attacked on the west side of Binghamton, New York. At about 4:30 AM, on that date, the female victim was walking on Gerard Avenue in the vicinity of Walnut Street, when she was attacked from behind by an unknown male. The victim was knocked to the ground and the male began to remove her clothing. The woman struggled to resist the male, and at this point he stabbed her in the left leg. A man who was in the area, heard the woman’s screams for help, and began running to her assistance. The attacker saw the man approaching, and fled the scene on foot. He was last seen northbound on Walnut Street, heading for the railroad tracks.

Binghamton Police and Emergency Medical personnel responded to the scene. The victim was transported by ambulance to Wilson Hospital for emergency medical care.

The area was searched for the suspect with unsuccessful results.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 25 years of age, 5’6" or 5’7" tall, thin build, dark brown short straight hair, round baby face and thin nose. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, blue baseball cap and boots. His clothing was noticeably dirty.

A composite drawing of the suspect has been developed from the victim.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
