New information in this case: Following the presentation of this case, INDIA S. CINTRON, 99 PARK STREET, BINGHAMTON, AGE 18, BORN NOVEMBER 9, 1985, turned herself into Binghamton Police after she and family members encountered the story and associated photo in the media. This led to the arrest of NATASHA OSORIO, 193 ST. CHARLES STREET, JOHNSON CITY, AGE 20, BORN SEPTEMBER 26, 1983. Both women have been charged with Forgery in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony, for their part in this case. Natasha Osorio was arraigned on August 16, 2004, and was later released in her own recognizance pending further court action. Cintron was arrested Aug. 18, 2004. Original details: On July 8, 2004, a south side Binghamton, New York, woman came to the Binghamton Police Headquarters to report that a check had been stolen and forged. The check was a Broome County Support Collection Unit check, made out to the 37 year old woman for child support, in the amount of $161.50. She had been informed by the owner of a local store where the check had been cashed that it had been returned as "stop payment". The subsequent investigation revealed that the woman had recently moved to her current Binghamton residence from Johnson City. Around the beginning of June, 2004, two support checks were mistakenly mailed to the old address. It was from the old address that the checks were apparently stolen. When she did not receive the checks, the woman contacted the Collection Unit and the error was discovered. Stop payment was placed on the stolen checks, but by this time, one of them had already been cashed. The check was cashed at the J & P Mart, 28 Exchange Street, Binghamton. A female presented the endorsed check to a cashier at the store, requesting that it be cashed. When asked to produce ID, the female said that she did not have any with her. Another woman with the female presented a Maryland Drivers License for ID, which the clerk accepted and cashed the check. The Maryland Drivers License was issued to a Rachel Lynn Alderson of Bowie, Maryland. She is listed as being 21 years of age, 56", 155 pounds, and pictured on the license with dark hair. Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes. |
