77 Main St, Binghamton, Manley’s Mighty Mart

On Friday, October 15, 2004, a personal injury hit and run accident occurred on the west side of Binghamton, New York. At about 9:25 PM on that date, a 52 year old west side woman was walking on the south side of Main Street, in the vicinity of Manley’s Mighty Mart, 77 Main Street. When she arrived at the store’s parking lot area, the woman left the sidewalk and walked over to Main Street, with the intent to cross the street. As the woman stepped out into the roadway, she was suddenly struck by a vehicle which was traveling eastbound on Main Street. The force of the impact knocked the woman to the ground, injuring her. After striking the woman, the vehicle slowed down, then turned south onto Chapin Street. With the woman still lying injured in the street, the vehicle fled the scene, last observed speeding southbound on Chapin Street.
Binghamton Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the accident scene. The woman, suffering from pain to her lower back and left knee, was transported by Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad Ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle which struck the woman and then fled the scene may have been a light green Saturn, with a New York license plate, driven by a white male. One witness said the vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on Main Street, suddenly swerved to the right, striking the woman.

Along with specific suspect vehicle and driver information, Detectives would also like to hear from people who may have witnessed all or part of the incident, and have not yet been interviewed by Police.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
