In the second week of December, 2004, an armed robbery occurred in Binghamton, New York. Shortly after 7:00 PM on Friday, December 10, 2004, a Yellow Cab was dispatched to Janette Avenue, in the City’s First Ward, to pick up a fare. When the cab arrived at the address, a man approached and got into the cab. Once seated in the vehicle, the man suddenly displayed a handgun and ordered the cab driver to hand over his money. After receiving the money, the man then told the cab driver to get out of the vehicle. In compliance with the gunman’s order, the cab driver exited the vehicle. At this point, the man jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away, stealing the cab and leaving the driver standing in the street.. Binghamton Police were notified and immediately responded to the scene. The stolen cab was located shortly thereafter, found several blocks south of the scene. The suspect had fled the cab prior to Police locating it. The cab driver was not injured in this incident. Taken from him was an undisclosed amount of cash. The subsequent investigation by Detectives resulted in the creation of a composite drawing of the suspect. That composite is being presented as part of this case. The suspect is described as a black male, age in his 20’s, approximately 5’9” to 6’0” tall, thin to medium build, medium complexion, wearing a black coat, black pants and white doo rag. Along with specific suspect information, Detectives would be interested in any information from those who may have been in the area on the night of the crime and may have noticed something suspicious. |
