BPD X-tra Mart Armed Robbery
On Sunday, January 23, 2005, an armed robbery occurred on the east side of Binghamton, New York. At about 3:44 PM, on that date, a Binghamton man was working alone as the cashier at the X-tra Mart, 409 Court Street. A few people were in the store, a man and a woman, apparently the two were not together. The woman left the store, walked out to a waiting car and drove away. Within seconds of the woman leaving the store, the man approached the cashier and displayed a handgun. The man pointed the gun at the cashier’s face and demanded all the money from the cash register, as well as any money he personally had in his possession. After advising the man that he had no money on his person, the cashier opened the register, and removed all the money that was in it. He then handed the cash over to the man. The man then turned from the cashier and exited the store, last seen fleeing the area on foot, west on Court Street. As the man exited the store, he told the cashier to, “ Have a nice day”. There were no injuries in this incident. Taken in the robbery was an undisclosed amount of cash. The handgun was described only as being silver in color. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’9”, 165 pounds, wearing a light colored puffy coat and a Yankees cap. Along with specific suspect information, Detectives would be interested in any information from people who may have been in the area at the time of the robbery and may have noticed anything suspicious. Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes. |
