VPD Tuthill’s Burglary
On Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 6:42 AM, the Vestal, New York, Police Department received a burglary alarm activation from Tuthill’s Photography Store, located at 3951 Vestal Parkway east, in the Town of Vestal. Upon arrival, Vestal Police Officers found the exterior of the business to be, apparently, undisturbed, with all entrances locked and secure. A store manager was summoned to the business and a check of the interior revealed that a burglary had occurred. A rear door had been forced open and force was additionally used to open a display case. A significant number of high priced digital cameras had been stolen from the display case.
The items taken by the suspect or suspects consisted of a substantial number of both Canon and Olympus digital cameras.
The subsequent investigation revealed that similar burglaries had occurred at Wright Images in Henrietta, New York in the evening hours of March 18, 2005, and on March 19, 2005 at Applied Technical Services in DeWitt, New York. The second break in also occurred in the evening hours.
Because of the method of operation and time frames involved, it appears that the three burglaries are all related.
Along with specific suspect information, investigators would be interested in any information on the stolen property and any observations of suspicious individuals, vehicles or activities in the vicinity of the burglaries at the time of the incidents.
Binghamton Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) responsible for these crimes.
