BPD Subway Armed Robbery

In the late evening hours of Tuesday, May 3, 2005, an armed robbery occurred on the west side of Binghamton, New York. At about 10:24 PM, on that date, a female employee was working at the Subway Store, located at 187 Main Street. The store was closed, and the employee was preparing to take out bags of garbage to the dumpster in the parking lot. As the employee opened the side door to the store and began to exit the building to take the garbage to the dumpster, she noticed a man standing nearby in the lot. The man began quickly walking towards the employee, who was standing in the open doorway. Dropping the garbage bags, the employee stepped back into the store and attempted to pull the door shut. The man grabbed hold of the door and prevented the employee from closing it. He then stepped into the store and approached the employee.
The man picked up the employee’s cell phone, which was lying on a desk. He then got behind the female and shoved the barrel of a handgun into her back. The employee opened the cash drawer of her register. At this point the man nudged the female to the side and went directly to the cash drawer. He removed the cash tray from the drawer and began to walk back towards the door he initially forced his way into. He stopped and ordered the employee to open the store safe. When the employee responded that she was unable to open the safe, the man exited the building through the open side door. He was last seen fleeing the scene on foot, running diagonally through the parking lot and eastbound on Main Street.
No one was injured in this incident.
The weapon used in the incident is described as a black handgun, unknown make or caliber.
Taken in the robbery was the cash register money tray and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Suspect is described as a black male, age approximately in mid 20’s, approximate height of 6’0”, thin build, eyes described as being bloodshot, wearing a black jean jacket, black jean pants, blue head bandana and black hat.

BINGHAMTON CRIME STOPPERS IS OFFERING A REWARD OF UP TO $1,000.00 FOR INFORMATION WHICH LEADS TO THE ARREST AND INDICTMENT OF THE SUSPECT IN THIS CASE.
