BPD Binghamton Plaza Strong Arm Robbery

On Thursday, May 26, 2005, a “strong arm” robbery occurred on the north side of Binghamton, New York.On Thursday, May 26, 2005, a “strong arm” robbery occurred on the north side of Binghamton, New York The young man rode his bicycle into the plaza and to a soda machine where he intended to purchase a can of pop. After dismounting the bike and stepping over to the machine, the young man stood with his back to the Plaza parking lot. As he prepared to purchase the soda, he was suddenly attacked from behind by two males. The two males began punching the man, striking him several times. This pummeling continued until the man fell to the ground. Once they had him on the ground, one of the males reached into the man’s pants pocket and removed an undisclosed multi dollar bill. The two males then fled on foot, last seen running north through the Plaza towards Cheri Lindsey Park.
The man got up from the ground, got on his bike and pedaled it home. When the man arrived at his west side residence, he telephoned the Binghamton Police Department. This lapse between the time of the incident and the time that Police were notified gave the two suspects a considerable interlude in which to leave the area.
The two suspects are described as being black males between the ages of 17 to 20. One of the males was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans. The other was wearing a tan flannel shirt with blue jeans.
Along with specific suspect information, Investigators would be interested in information from anyone who may have witnessed some or all of the robbery, and / or observed the two fleeing individuals.

BINGHAMTON CRIME STOPPERS IS OFFERING A REWARD OF UP TO $1,000.00 FOR INFORMATION WHICH LEADS TO THE ARREST AND INDICTMENT OF THE SUSPECT IN THIS CASE.
